Skala Sotiros
Skala Sotiros is a small and tranquil village built in a lush area along the seaside. The climate is among the best on the island. Roman bath facilities were located nearby in Roman times. Below the church in Skala Sotiros, people can spot the ruins of a prehistoric, Bronze Age settlement. Nearby, visitors can find the oldest olive press of Thassos, found in the heart of the olive growing region of the island.
The development of Skala Sotiros from a fishing hamlet into a holiday resort began only in the early 1980s. A small, beautifully presented, and well-maintained marina provides moorings for hundreds of small boats offering an opportunity for fishing to beginners as well as for the more advanced. The sandy beach with crystal waters is lined with palm trees, giving an exotic feel to the place. Nestled amongst them are small tavernas and bars which remain open all day, serving delicious food and refreshing drinks.
